The Permanent Solution to Fix Missing or Damaged Teeth
Smile Mart offers dental crowns as one type of restorative dentistry that is reliable in fixing missing or damaged teeth. You may be a candidate for dental crowns, also called caps, if you have problems speaking, chewing, or functionality concerns that results from gaps in the teeth. Dental crowns can remedy these problems, even if you have severe decay or trauma. The best part? They look, feel, and function just like your natural teeth and are virtually indistinguishable from surrounding teeth because they are custom shade-matched.
If your dentist recommends a dental crown, you likely have questions about how the process works and how it will restore the size and shape of your missing natural tooth.
Crowns may be a worthwhile solution if you have:
- Weakened teeth
- Damaged teeth
- Teeth with large fillings
- Dental bridges
- Dental implants or root canals
- A tooth that cannot be properly restored with a dental filling
How Long Does It Take to Get a New Dental Crown?
It only takes 2 visits to get a dental crown placed after you’ve accepted your treatment plan. The first visit is when we remove any decay and prepare the tooth for the permanent crown by taking a mouth mold which is then sent to a master lab technician in a dental laboratory. In the meantime, you’ll have a temporary crown so you can speak and chew normally. At the second appointment, your permanent crown will be evaluated for fit and appearance before it is cemented down and polished. You will only need to have the crown re-cemented once every 20 to 30 years.
